A fine quality pre-1931 possibly Great War period 'Royal Navy gold and enamel sweetheart brooch'; bearing George V Crowned laurel wreath, fouled anchor to voided centre and mounted on a slender bar, the reverse impressed with pre-1931 "15ct" (15 carat gold) mark. Excellent condition, retaining original pin fittings, enamel perfect, complete with safety chain. Contained in its original velvet lined fitted leather case in very good clean condition.

WW1 Coat of Arms Australian on Silhouette Map, 9ct Gold Sweetheart Brooch.

A scarce First World War period 'Austalian Souvenir' sweetheart brooch; hollow gold example in the form of 'Map of Australia' with raised edge, the centre depicting the earlier form of the Coat of Arms with 'Advance Australia' motto below; the reverse impressed with three marks in separate boxes 'compass' '9' (9 carat gold) and a wheatsheaf. Very good condition, retaining original pin fitting, old replacement hook, no dents or distortions.

The coat of arms of Australia were authorised by King Edward VII on 7 May 1908 and bore the motto 'Advance Australia', updated version by King George V on 19 September 1912 with just the title 'Australia', the 1908 version continued to be used in some contexts.
