A rare original Great War period Admiralty Requisitioned 'HMS Duke of Clarence fine quality sweetheart brooch'; hollow silver example in the form of an anchor and bouy, the reverse bearing Birmingham silver hallmarks for 1916 and maker's details "F.H.M" (Frank H Mannox, Birmingham). 'TSS Duke of Clarence' was a Twin-Screw Steamship or steamer owned by the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Company between 1906 and 1922 and by the London, Midland and Scottish Railway Company between1923 and 1930. She was requisitioned by the Admiralty in World War 1 for use as an armed boarding steamer and was then known as 'HMS Duke of Clarence'. She returned to the Zeebrugge service in February 1920 and was sold for scrapping in 1930.
