Royal Navy HMS Glasgow ( C21) Light Cruiser Ship Silhouette Silver Sweetheart Brooch, Commissioned 1937 Scrapped 1958.

A scarce original circa 1937 - 1958 period 'HMS Glasgow in the form ship's silhouette brooch', the reverse impressed "800" (Silver) and 'F.I 11' in lozenge shape border. Very good condition, retaining original pin fitting and a good replacement hook, complete with safety chain.
Length 59mm.

Royal Navy HMS Glasgow was a Town-class light cruiser, built by 'Scotts Shipbuilding and Engineering Company', Greenock, Scotland. The seventh ship with that name she was launched in 1936 and commissioned in 1937. She was part of the 2nd Cruiser Squadron of the Home Fleet, she escorted the King and Queen to Canada in 1939. She was sold for scrap in 1958.

A fine quality scarce original King George VI period 'Princess Mary’s Royal Air Force Nursing Service gold brooch' depicting a 'caduceus' surmounted by a Kings's Crown enhanced with red enamel and applied to a slender bar, the reverse impressed "9ct" (9 carat gold). Very good condition, complete with original pin fittings with safety catch and housed in original retailers' velvet lined fitted leather case inscribed "By Appointment" "Gieves Ltd. 80 Piccadilly, London, W.1.". This in good clean condition.

In Flight Magazine 17.10.1940 an advertisement cites 'Gieves Ltd 80 Piccadilly. W1' (late 21, Bond Street W1). It appears that on 16 September 1940 a high explosive bomb struck 'Gieves Ltd' and fire ignited when a gas main was damaged.

1918 Souvenir of 2nd Anniversary of 5th Pioneer Australian Imperial Force Silver Brooch.

A very scarce original Great War period English made brooch; crossed fern leaves surmounted by a boomerang, the central device displaying the units purple and white enamel coloured divisional patch. The reverse impressed "Sterling Silver" with Birmingham maker's details "M J & Co Bm" and inscribed "Souvenir of 2nd Anniversary of 5th Pioneer A.I.F". Good condition, complete with original pin fiittings, minor wear to enamel.

The '5th Pioneer Battalion' of the Australian Imperial Force was short lived unit, formed in 1916 and disbanded in 1919.
