A scarce original wartime period 'Fleet Air Arm sweetheart brooch', Crowned laurel wreath bearing fouled anchor to the centre on blue enamel ground, flanked by large finely feathered arched wings; the reverse impressed 'Sterling England' and with maker's details 'TLM' (Thomas Lynton Mott). A superb original First World War period fine quality 'King's Royal Rifle Corps gold and enamel brooch', the badge of the Regiment, a Maltese Cross with title circlet surmounted by crowned Latin motto scroll 'Celer et Audax' (Swift and Bold) inlaid with green enamel and mounted on a slim bar, the reverse impressed '9ct' (9 carat gold) and maker's details 'CP&Co' (Charles Packer & Co London). In 1858 'Peninsula Barracks Winchester, Hampshire' became the home base and training centre for the 'King’s Royal Rifle Corps' (60th Rifles) and 'Rifle Brigade' and was called the 'Rifle Depot'.
