A superb quality scarce post 1969 period 'Royal Regiment of Wales gold and enamel sweetheart brooch', unbroken wreath of immortelles surmounted by a Elizabeth II crown, dragon to voided centre, all resting on green enamel laurel sprays bearing blue enamel tri-part scroll inscribed 'GWELL ANGAU XXIV - XLI NA CHYWIL YDD' and mounted on a slender bar impressed with Birmingham 9 carat gold hallmarks for 1969 and maker's details 'G & Co Ld' in trefoil (Garrard & Co London) the Crown Jewellers. Very good mint condition, complete with original pin fittings incorporating safety roller catch in good working order, no damage to the enamel. An excellent example.
In 1969 'The South Wales Borderers' amalgamated with 'The Welch Regiment' to form The Royal Regiment of Wales (24th/41st Foot).
