A rare First World War period 'Queen's Own Yorkshire Dragoons sweetheart brooch'; a recognised design consisting of a gilt officer's uniform button bearing Queen Victoria Crowned Garter with "Honi Soit Qui Maly Pense" motto and title below "Yorkshire Dragoons YC" adapted and mounted within a gilt laurel wreath surround; the reverse with maker's details "J.R.Gaunt Pat Appd For" and "Rd 651017" a registered, design and patent date of 1916. Very good condition, retaining original pin fittings, gilt remains bright. Height 30mm.
