A scarce original wartime period 'Lancashire Fusiliers 1915 silver regimental spoon', the finial depicting a small representation of their cap badge inlaid with blue enamel to the scrolls, the bowl impressed with Birmingham silver hallmarks for 1915 and maker's details 'M&B' (Marples & Beasley Birmingham). A very scarce original '5th Battalion Durham Light Infantry silver 1913 prize spoon', the finial depicting a Crowned title strap, strung bugle to centre with engraved '5th' within the cords and superimposed over crossed rifles; the reverse impressed with Birmingham silver hallmarks for 1912 and maker's details 'V&S' (Vaughton & Sons Birmingham). Very good condition. Length approx 124mm. The 5th Battalion Durham Light Infantry was formed in 1908, it was a Territorial Force battalion with headquarters in Stockton.

A very attractive scarce '5th VB South Wales Borderers silver tribute spoon', the finial a khaki uniformed Boer War soldier about to fix bayonet, the ground on which he stands with plinth below inscribed '5VB' the shank a column of crossed rifle and flag. The reverse of the bowl bearing Sheffield silver hallmarks for 1906, maker's details 'C.B&S' (Cooper Brothers & Sons Ltd) and 'Rd.No354107' a registered, design and patent date of 1900. Very good condition. Length 122mm. 5th VB South Wales Borderers were formed in 1897 with HQ Newton, Montgomeryshire. Many of its members served in the Boer War resulting in the Battalion being accorded the battle honour 'South Africa 1900-01' in 1905. When the Volunteer system ended in 1908, the Battalion was transferred to the Royal Welsh Fusiliers as its 7th Battalion.
