A superb quality post 1931 rare 'Royal Welch Fusiliers gold and diamond sweetheart brooch', 'Welsh Dragon' set with diamonds, red stone eye and red translucent tongue, resting upon an Old English Gothic Script "RWF", the reverse impressed "14ct" (14 carat Gold) to the bar and "18ct" to the dragon. Very good condition, retaining original pin fittings incorporating safety catch, complete with all stones, an exceptional example. Width 52mm. Height 24mm.

A rare and elegant 'Royal Welch Fusiliers ornate silver Edward VII period sweetheart brooch', displaying the Prince of Wales's plumes to the centre and with scallop decoration to the rim, the reverse impressed with Birmingham silver hallmarks for 1903 and maker's details "W.J.H" (William J Holmes, Birmingham). A scarce First World War period 'Royal Welsh Fusiliers sweetheart brooch', small silver disc bearing a 'Welsh Dragon' on plinth inscribed 'RWF' in old script letters, mounted on a slender bar with later engraved title 'Royal Welch Fusiliers' the reverse impressed 'Sterling'. Very good condition, retaining original pin fittings. Width 39mm. Diameter 16mm. The Regiment variously used the spelling 'Welsh' and 'Welch' until the official spelling of 'Welch' was finally confirmed by Army Order 56 in 1920.
