A scarce original First World War period 'The Buffs Regiment 1917 silver rifle sweetheart brooch', in the form of a miniature cap style badge the front with gold plated finish bearing a dragon resting on a scroll and mounted on a S.M.L.E style rifle; the reverse impressed with Birmingham silver hallmarks for 1917 and maker's details 'A.Bros' (Ahronsberg Brothers, Birmingham). Very good condition, complete with original pin fittings and rifle sling and all the gold plating to the front of the badge. Width 55mm.
