A good quality scarce 'Royal Artillery silver prize shooting spoon', the finial depicting the badge of the Regiment with motto scroll 'Ubique' (Everywhere) and scroll below 'Quo fas et gloria ducunt' (Wherever right and glory lead) inlaid with blue enamel, the reverse impressed "Silver". Very good condition, enamel intact.

Royal Navy 'HMS Effingham' 1931 Hallmarked Silver Rifle Shank Shooting Spoon, Wrecked off BodÝ, Norway 1940.

A very scarce circa 1930's period 'H.M.S. Effingham silver prize rifle shooting spoon; the finial bearing the ships crest, the supporting shank being crossed rifles with bowl impressed with London silver hallmarks for 1931 and maker's details "H.P" (H. Phillips Aldershot, Hampshire). Very good condition.

'HMS Effingham' was a Hawkins-class heavy cruiser commissioned in 1925. She is the only ship of the Royal Navy to have borne the name, after its namesake 'Lord Howard of Effingham'. The name was bestowed on a 'Naval Shore Establishment' for the training of naval 'Special Forces' in 1943.
